Staff Accountant

As a Staff Accountant, you'll be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will have charge over many aspects of internal reporting. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. The majority of time spent as the Staff Accountant involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Your responsibilities as the Staff Accountant are:
- Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
- Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
- Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
- Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
- Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
- Take part in various department-wide initiatives

- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
- Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
- 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
- Self-starter and strong ethical standards
- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Current and relevant ERP system experience
- Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
- Competent with spreadsheets and databases
- Accounts payable experience
- Proficiency in property accounting
- Comprehensive knowledge of MRI
- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
