Subject Matter Expert - Instructor & Courseware Developer - Part Time

Job Description

Serves as a Subject Matter Expert-Instructor and Courseware Developer providing support for the training efforts for the College of Business Financial Management and Comptroller (CoBFM&C) based at Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Md. Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the customer to develop course content as outlined in the SOW. Course development will include establishing project schedule, delivery strategies, content and exercises.

  • Develop an Instructor guide and student handbook. Engage the instructor to ensure instructor notes adequately address the learning objective.

  • Participate in meetings on subject matter and provide expert advice and recommendations on course content based on relevant financial management policy and guidance.

  • Collaborate with resident graphics experts to ensure formatting, content and display of material conforms to college standards.

  • Develop a list of required materials for the classroom (i. e., calculators, rulers, special items to execute student exercises, etc.)

  • Provide sustainment of existing course as required by SOW and POA&M.

  • Develop and update class material utilizing most current FMR, DOD and DON financial management policies as well as address local business and financial management procedures, policies and tool sets.

Required Skills

  • Must be able to obtain base access

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal guidance. On site office space will be available, but the employee must also be able to work from home as needed.

  • Must be fluent in the English language and able to communicate complicated concepts to an English-speaking only audience comprised of mid to senior-level managers/leaders.

  • Employee must be proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this position requires U. S. Citizenship status

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum a SECRET Security Clearance

Required Experience

  • Must have at least ten years of Department of the Navy Financial experience. Resume must clearly articulate prior assignments and the type and duration of financial experience.

  • Must have previous classroom experience as a teacher/instructor or the ability to speak/present material to large audiences.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
